Technology Entrepreneurship Certificate

The goal of the technology entrepreneurship certificate program is to provide Yale College Engineering students with training at the interface of engineering and technology development, with an emphasis on translating technical ideas into practical applications.

The certificate advisory committee has the following membership:

  • Julie Dorsey, Computer Science
  • Robert SoulĂ©, Computer Science

A requirement for the program is the completion of three experiential units. The list of options that satisfy this requirement are below. This is a dynamic list, and the certificate advisory committee will update this list as new opportunities become available.

  • An internship in an entrepreneurial group (startup company, non-profit, or innovation group within a large organization): 3 units if it is a multi-month internship
  • Participation in the semester-long Hillhouse Fellows program: 3 units
  • Attending the Engineering Dean’s Speaker Series: 1 unit per two speakers
  • Participation in the Tsai City Accelerator: 3 units

Application Form

To enroll in the certificate program, please have the following information ready: (a) the major you have selected for entrepreneurial emphasis (current list: CS, BME, EECS, ECE); (b) your tentative plan of coursework to complete the certificate requirements (course number/semester when the course has been taken or will be taken); and (c) a short list of faculty that would be willing to evaluate their project.

If the application is approved, the certificate director will notify the Registrar’s Office to add the certificate requirements to students’ Degree Audits.
